The snorkeling lagoon is a fantastic feature, perfect for beginners. Rooms feel a bit outdated and carpets were sticky.

The oceanfront views from the room were stunning, definitely a highlight of our stay. The decor felt outdated and the noise from the nearby bar made it hard to sleep. The private lagoon is a nice spot for swimming and snorkeling, adding to the experience.

Royal Kona Resort offers breathtaking ocean views and a charming poolside atmosphere. The outdoor dining area captures the ocean breeze, enhancing the meal experience. While the rooms are spacious, some updates are needed. Perfect for those seeking relaxation with easy beach access and a vibrant ambiance.

Staying here, we could walk to all the amazing shops and restaurants, and with the ocean right outside our window, every morning felt like a vacation paradise - the partial ocean view made it even better! Just a few steps away from Kailua Pier, we enjoyed leisurely strolls along the waterfront and explored local landmarks like Hulihe'e Palace and Mokuʻaikaua Church, all within almost 2 km. The lagoon and pool were perfect spots to cool off after our adventures, and the luau right on site was a fantastic addition to our stay! The staff were super friendly, and we appreciated the easy parking. The only minor downside was that smoking areas were limited, but that didn't take away from the overall experience!

Honestly, our experience was pretty rough. The breakfast was a disaster—total lack of service. We were left waiting forever, had to chase down staff for coffee refills, and couldn’t even pay the bill without a struggle. Just frustrating!

The views were absolutely breathtaking! I loved lounging by the pool, listening to the waves crash nearby. Plus, the free mai tai coupons added a fun twist to our evenings!
would be happy to recommend 🥰🍹

Me and my friends had a blast diving with the manta rays and snorkeling at the saltwater lagoon – we saw so much cool stuff! The pool and Hawaiian music vibes made our nights lit with fun activities.
It would've been even more awesome if there was a happening party scene for young peeps like us.

Stunning oceanfront views from the balcony were a highlight, with the soothing sound of waves adding to our peaceful nights. The luau was fun, but we dodged rain on its early ending. The staff, while mostly friendly, could use some pep; a welcome champagne gift was nice after our late arrival. Room cleanliness was hit or miss, and the parking situation was frustrating, with tight spaces always full. The gym had little to offer; only one functioning treadmill and no towels. Despite charming touches, some areas felt outdated and in need of attention.

The ocean view is unbeatable! The staff are friendly and make you feel welcome, and the pool area is a nice escape from reality.
The restaurant menu is stuck in the '90s.

Several beautiful locations and great walkability. The staff is friendly, and you’re steps from the ocean. My initial expectation of a partial view room was completely exceeded. The view from room 569 was stunning—vast blue water and an incredible bay. there's a downside. The noise from the elevator ruined our first night. We initially received two small beds instead of one king, which was disappointing. The rooms show wear and tear; everything needs refreshing. The showers need repair, and the property feels dated. Prices are high, yet the quality doesn’t match. You’re paying for the view, not the luxury. It could be a paradise, but adjustments are necessary for a truly enjoyable stay.

The room had a fantastic sea view. the initial room had roaches, forcing a move. The second room had bed bugs. The two beds were incredibly soft and felt worn out. Linens were flimsy and didn’t stay put. The bathroom was cramped, especially for taller guests; the shower head was unusually low and hard to use comfortably. Walls were thin, allowing for detailed conversation from neighbors. The balcony lacked privacy, with visible emptiness in planters. The room smelled odd, possibly from recent pest control. A much-needed upgrade is essential, especially given the location.

The staff was friendly, and they helped us with breakfast options. The pool was perfect for the kids to splash around.
The rates were a bit high, but it was worth it for the amenities.

One of the things I really appreciated was the free Wi-Fi in the rooms. It was convenient to stay connected during our trip. The terrace in our room also had a beautiful view where we could watch whales, which was a highlight of our mornings. there were some areas that needed improvement. The air conditioning seemed to have a mind of its own, as it was frigid at night but didn't kick in during the day. This made for some uncomfortable temperature fluctuations. there were no ironing facilities in the room, which was a bit inconvenient as we had some wrinkled clothes from our journey. the housekeeping staff was responsive when we called about the room being a little dirty upon check-in. They promptly cleaned up the bathroom and made sure we were comfortable for the rest of our stay. The garden furniture outside was a nice touch, but unfortunately, the terrace deck had some issues with cement falling out of the holes, which was a bit concerning.

Explore the ocean without leaving the resort in the protected saltwater lagoon, ideal for kids and beginner snorkelers. Enjoy weekly Legends of Hawaiian Music concert with talented artists.
For dads, it would be great to have more kid-friendly meal options.

Beautiful grounds, nice lanai, great walkability to beaches and shops. Bay view for fireworks and parade on 4th of July.
Felt like royalty, no complaints at all.

Don's Mai Tai Bar offers stunning 180° ocean views and mouth-watering flavors. Hawaiian Cultural Activities were a unique touch. The Coconut Grove Marketplace was full of fun gift shops and art galleries to explore.
The rain on the East side was the cherry on top of my perfect stay.

Overpriced rooms lacking quality and comfort. Constant construction noise ruined the peaceful experience.

we stayed at royal kona resort and the view from our room was beautiful - right on the ocean, we got a partial view and stayed in ali'i tower. location was perfect spot downtown between all shops and restaurants. the lagoon and pool were great for cooling off. also, lu'au on site made it super easy and a fun activity! the building looks very tired and needs refreshing, and the room we had could be spruced up and add a few amenities to make it better. the hotel is close to some good restaurants and coffee shops, and a short drive to some nice parks and shopping. the bar's location was perfect and the small lagoon where you could snorkel with tropical fish with the safety of the rock front was very very good.
Nothing all excellent 🙂
